Chamber partners with local Charity
The Merimbula Chamber of Commerce have partnered with local charity Sapphire Life Opportunities (SLO) to provide support to both people who have been affected by the fires and local business owners.
SLO is a registered charity and has been receiving donations to support people impacted by the fires. They recently set up a Community Shop located in the old BWS premises which has food and a wide selection of clothing and linen.
They are giving out vouchers for people to buy replacement items from local businesses so this is where the Chamber comes in. The Chamber has partnered with SLO and has provided a list of it’s members so the money is now flowing into those businesses, which supports the local business community as well.
An initial contribution of $5000 has been made towards vouchers by SLO and SLO Pastor Jeremy Fernando says he expects there will be more to come.
Chamber President Nigel Ayling said ‘We are very pleased to be working with Sapphire Life Opportunities to support both local people affected by the fires and also supporting our local businesses.
